RE: Common Law Inquiry

As you would be aware Justice Sheahan has been granted a two-week extension on the Common Law Inquiry, until 31st August 2001.

Labor Council has prepared a summary of the recommendations made within the written submission to the Inquiry. A copy has been provided to all affiliates, however, if you require a copy of this information please contact Melissa Metcalfe on 9286 1657 or email: m.metcalfe@labor.org.au

Please find attached a fact sheet, explaining what common law is, draft letters that can be sent to Member's of Parliament and a flyer - MP's Pledge.

Please note a briefing has been arranged for 3rd September 2001 at the Masonic Centre (referred to circular C470/01) to brief unions on the latest workers compensation reforms. If the Sheahan report is available on 3rd September 2001 Labor Council will present the findings at the seminar.
